About CBRT™

A UK-developed mental-health communication and first-tier support innovation created with care

Colour Breathing Relaxation Technique© (CBRT™) is a human-led, person-centred relaxation and behavioural-health support Programme. It combines the seven Colour Breathing Disks©, conscious breathing, staged whole mind-body relaxation and caring communication.

The Programme has dedicated more than 20 years to research, improvement and development. It has been co-created and used in real-life settings by clinicians, NHS mental-health professionals, NHS mental-health workers, service users and professionals from community, education, social-care and complementary backgrounds.

A first-tier approach with measurable outcomes

CBRT™ was developed to provide a practical first tier of relaxation, mental-health communication and wellbeing support. It may be practised privately at home or work, or delivered by trained Practitioners in Individual and person-centred Group Sessions.

The Programme uses structured records and case studies to capture measurable outcomes, including GAD-7 and PHQ-9 within the wider assessment framework, CBRT™ Initial Response Sheets©, Practitioner observations, participant feedback and repeat measures. cte #men

Professional workforce and social impact

More than 300 Practitioners have been trained during Programme development. The long-term model is designed to help organisations and communities build an additional human-led first-tier workforce alongside—not instead of—specialist clinical services.

CBRT™ has relevance across twelve priority sectors and can be considered by healthcare and social-care providers, charities, education, workplaces, government bodies, researchers, universities, funders and responsible strategic partners.

Evidence, governance and continuing development

CBRT™ has been through NHS innovation due-diligence activity and was recognised as a technology by the former NHS National Innovation Centre in 2012. The CBRT Expert Scientific Clinician Advisory Board will provide a route for clinical, scientific and research oversight as the evidence base develops.

The Practitioner workflow is being updated with digital and AI-supported tools intended to improve data capture and reduce administration while keeping delivery human-led and professional judgement central.
