A high-quality, CPD-accredited Programme

The Practitioner Training Programme is a two-day professional learning experience providing 13.25 hours of continuing professional development. Each training day has historically lasted approximately eight hours, for example 9.00 am to 5.30 pm. The Programme has been recognised for CPD accreditation by The CPD Standards Office.

Participants who complete the CPD activity receive a certificate for their CPD record and reflective questions to help them apply their new skills and record learning outcomes for professional review or audit.

The established assessed pathway requires full attendance, a 40-question Assessment Paper based on the course content and five case studies, followed by licensing after successful completion. The timetable and any process updates for the 2027 Programme will be confirmed in the enrolment information.

Developed with professional practice in mind

Since 2004, the Programme has been researched and developed through continuing cycles of improvement with behavioural-health professionals in England and Northern Ireland. More than 300 Practitioners have been trained during Programme development.

People trained since 2005 include community mental-health support workers, counsellors, psychologists, midwives, palliative-care professionals, occupational therapists, GPs, nurses, addiction and trauma/PTSD specialists, carers, school teachers and lecturers, prison officers, stress-management consultants, complementary-health practitioners, and social-care and voluntary-sector staff.

The Colour Breathing Disks© were also used as a classroom calming and emotional-resilience activity within the Discovery Programme between 2003 and 2006.

Testimonials

Sue, a CBRT Practitioner who worked in the healthcare sector described CBRT as “Proving to be one of the simplest but most effective tools to aid mental relaxation and achieves excellent therapeutic outcomes. The beauty of it lies in its simplicity - it is easy to understand and is something that can be taken away and used every day by everyone …. it has improved the mental well-being in my clients in a faster time frame than the usual talking therapies”.

David, a CBRT Practitioner working in the education sector said “CBRT is an excellent way of focusing the mind, helping the person to describe, understand and regulate their emotional state and talk through the concerns, worries or anxieties that might be preventing them reaching goals they set for themselves. Children and adults love the colours. CBRT is a wonderful way of working with others to improve the way we interact and how we can ‘listen’ to our feelings to find the way forward.”

Colour Breathing Relaxation Technique helps me talk about my state of mental wellbeing in a new and positive way.

It is okay to say "I am going to go to my CBRT Relaxation Support Session now."
